Welcome to the Magical World of Belly Dance!!!!!

Welcome to our webpage! We are so happy to share with you the art & sport of belly dance on the Central Kenai Peninsula.  The dance carries so much meaning for each & every one of us, and through this website, we hope to convey just a glimpse of that meaning with you.  So, although this may be a bit of a corny beginning to our blog, I'll just start out with a simple story (because dancing is really just another way of telling a story) . . .

. . . when Earth was experiencing an eternal summer, humans easily changed from human form into spritely form. Each night, after a long day, the People became ethereal sprites and leaped into the forest where they met with other sprites. There, in the forest, they would dance, laugh, and play.

One day, a strong, cold wind blew in from the North and put Earth into a long winter.  The humans could not shed their human form any longer for a lighter spritely form, for it was too cold.  Fearing that they would freeze to death, they burrowed inside of their dwellings rather than venturing into the forests, and as they lost touch with each other, their minds went into a deep slumber.

In the middle of a long, dark, & bitterly cold night, a child had a dream.  She dreamt of a time before time, a time of flowers & springtime, a time of new life & new light.  When she awoke, she found a candle burning in the middle of her dwelling.  The candle emitted such light and warmth that it warmed up her icy hands and feet and enveloped her in an invisible cloak of penetrating warmth.  She picked up the candle and walked out of her home barefoot into the snow, for she had no need for shoes when her entire body was warm from the heat of the magical candle.

The child walked back into the forest to the place where her ancestors gathered together so long ago in their spritely forms.  When she got there, she rested her hand on a hybernating deciduous tree.  Immediately she felt the tree warm up and, in absolute awe, she watched it sprout green leaves within a matter of seconds.  The girl turned around and saw that the rest of the forest was also rapidly moving from winter into summer.  Visions of her spritely dancing ancestors appeared before her eyes.  She could hear them laughing and she could see them playing.

The spritely forms told her that she did not have to exist in a land of eternal winter because inside of her DNA, there was a land of eternal summer.  They showed her how to access her warmth, laughter, & happiness through their ancient dance so that she would never be cold again.  They told her that when she went back to the humans' land of winter, she should always carry the magical candle with her, so that others may also experience a glimpse of summer.

In time, the girl used the candle to bring new friendships to life.  She brought people to the magical place in the forest where they could also learn the ancient dance from the sprites. The dance brought new warmth & energy into the lives of the frozen humans, waking them from a centuries-long slumber of the mind & spirit . .

. . . and this is the point where the story enters into reality again.  Now we put on our costumes, enter the forest, and dance with the sprites, because, the only way to really flavor up life is to add some fantasy to it! After all, that is what art offers . . . a way to alter your internal world so you can deal more effectively with your external reality.

Thank you for your attention! I hope you enjoy our website!!!!!
